The sprawling 180,000-acre Trinchera Ranch in Southern Colorado, formerly owned by Steve Forbes of Forbes Magazine, is a sight to behold. This magnificent ranch sits in the heart of the highest mountain peaks in Colorado, several rising to over 14,000 feet in elevation. The lodge has 5 star accommodations and a well equipped conference room and it's an ideal location for corporate groups and group conferences. Space is limited on these exclusive trips so book early! Combine with fly fishing on Culebra Creek, just 25 minutes from the Lodge.
There are nice accommodations in Kemmerer and there are several restaurants to choose from but Kemmerer isn't a big tourist town. Clients come here to fly fish! There's no 5 star lodges, fancy restaurants or hopping nightclubs here. Just basic stuff and great fly fishing opportunities and of course, professional, experienced guides from The Solitary Angler.
Many clients have combined fly fishing here with trips to the Green River below Flaming Gorge or the Snake River near Jackson Hole, and most tell me this was their favorite part and that they caught larger and sometimes more fish here. Many have told me this is the best trout fishing they ever had!
There are brand new cabins and a lodge on the ranch that are also available to Club Members that make it very convenient to come enjoy all the great fishing in the region. The accommodations have everything you need in a remote setting off the grid, including electric, satellite TV, cell phone service and all your meals (which are excellent home-cooked county style meals), which means no more worrying about getting off the river to get back to town in time to eat.
Combine the Fontenelle Creek with a day or two floating the Green River with one of our experienced guides for the largest trout in Wyoming or try the Ham's Fk. for some superb dry fly fishing for big bows and browns. Top it all off with a day or two on one our "classic", private sections of the Smith's Fork, near Cokeville, just one hour north of Kemmerer, where you'll throw large dries at native Bonneville Cutthroats and wild browns, then stay at the Clark Country B&B right on the river.
While fishing on the Smith's Fork stay at the Clark B&B who we work exclusively with. It's actually a cozy old ranch house (cabin) that has been refurbished and redecorated. It's so sweet and the hosts are actual ranchers and wonderful people and provide superb hospitality. Book your trip now for this gem.
Construction of a small lodge / fishing retreat is scheduled to begin this summer on my property on Culebra Creek. It will be unobtrusive to the angler on the river, yet still offer stunning views of the creek and the towering peaks of the Sangre de Cristos. Once completed, it will be available for nightly rentals to our members and clients that fish with us. More information as it becomes available can be found by clicking on Accommodations.
