Fly fishing Green River below Fontenelle Dam: Fishing has improved with cooler weather but the afternoon winds are kicking up around 20 to 30 mph on some days. We've been catching very large fish this year with numerous browns, cuts and a few rainbows over 20 inches including a 26 inch brown and several cuts around 24 inches. Morning hatches of trico's are coming on bringing some large sippers to the surface an fishing with small dark hare's ear and pheasant tail nymphs is good, however landing them has been tough for most anglers. Prolific caddis hatches are producing good results after the sun goes down if the wind isn't blowing. Kokanee are already showing up and egg sucking rainbows and pre-spawning browns will soon be following. We've made it through the worst heat wave ever and the fishing the rest of the year looks good! We'll keep you posted. fly fishing Ham's Fork:: Smith's Fork: ( Private- Rod fees required via The Solitary Angler)
